Where is fort dawnguard

Like the abundance of mushrooms found in the more dank and dark areas of Fort Dawnguard, there is also an abundance of other herbs and plants that can be useful to vampire hunters.

As Fort Dawnguard is located in a colder region of Skyrim, there is a large amount of Snowberries which can be found on the road to the main castle, which is used for creating potions that resist Fire, Frost, and Shock magic, but can also be used to make Fortify Enchanting potions. Right near the main entrance to Dayspring Canyon, just off the road to Fort Dawnguard, there is a small pool of icy water that is being fed by a couple of waterfalls.

This pool is home to a large number of salmon which can be harvested for food, or killed with arrows or Destruction magic to yield Salmon Roe, a useful Alchemy ingredient. Apparently, this is well known to Isran and Durak, since they have set up a salmon farm here to help with the collection of both items. Deer can be found in almost every corner of Skyrim and can be good target practice for any budding mage or archer wanting to hone their skills. It seems like Isran and Durak took this to heart, as the walls of Fort Dawnguard are covered head to toe in deer heads, some skeletal and some stuffed.

There are also a handful of bear heads around the living quarters and war room, but the sheer number of dead deer inside Fort Dawnguard begs the question of what this mass hunting must have done to the local deer population. In the main lobby of Fort Dawnguard, where players are first introduced to Isran, there is a large skylight in the ceiling that the vampire hunters use to test recruits to make sure they aren't vampires themselves. While this is a brilliant idea considering how often vampires love to take down institutions from the inside, there is a bit of a problem with it that doesn't make sense.

The skylight should allow for the elements to make their way inside the castle itself fairly easily, but aside from the opening being coated in stalactites and vines, the floor of the lobby is near spotless and doesn't seem to have been affected by this giant hole in the ceiling. Along with various vampire-related powers and gear, the Dawnguard DLC also brought with it gear specific to the Dawnguard and killing the undead. If players are wanting to equip themselves with the much cooler looking Heavy Armor variant of this armor, however, they will have to recruit Sorine Jurard and Gunmar first, since they can only be bought from Gunmar.

The tall arched hallways are supported by huge, decorative rectangular pillars. The inside of the fort itself has an arched theme to it, from the ceiling to the blind arches on the walls.

The main lobby is a large circular area littered with barrels and crates. Eight banners adorn the walls displaying the symbol of the Dawnguard. The floor consists of weathered cobblestone and decorative slabs that line the edges of two curved iron grates. Straight ahead is a hallway that leads to all the major ground floor rooms in the fort. When standing in the middle of the circle facing away from the main entrance, the second floor is to the right, the small balcony is another right.

The large balcony is to the left, and left again. To the west is the main dining area. The rectangular room is littered with general clutter and barrels of food. A grand fireplace decorated with banners and animal skulls sits to the side of the large dining table. Two cooking spits are available for use. Adjacent to the fireplace are two shelving units containing general silverware. Behind the shelving is a storage area of sorts.

Barrels, bags and crates line the walls, along with several bales of hay and two disused kegs covered in cobwebs. A map of Skyrim is on a desk by a small table in a side room. The crafting facilities are further west. To the left is a small room with an arcane enchanter and alchemy lab.

The shelves contain some basic ingredients and potions, along with several animal skulls. Adjacent is a fully fitted smithy, including a forge , grindstone and workbench. A smelter and tanning rack are on the lower level. The forge, arcane enchanter and alchemy lab will only be available if the Dawnguard are joined and the quests " A New Order " and " Bolstering the Ranks " have been completed. Heading past the smithy, the fort opens up into a large cave.

Opposite the smelter is a small wooden pen built against the cave wall where Gunmar keeps his armored trolls. To the south are two archery targets. Heading back west along the main hallway leads to the sleeping quarters. The large square room features a dining table and another grand fireplace. Animal hide rugs line the floors and the walls are adorned with several mounted deer and bear heads. There are four cots on the western side of the room, and five cots on the opposite side. Characters level 10 and above will catch word of The Dawnguard , and you'll start the Dawnguard Quest to guide you directly to their doorstep.

It is possible to find Fort Dawnguard for characters that are below level 10, but it is very difficult. Last Edited: 8 Nov pm. Was this guide helpful? YES NO. In This Wiki Guide.
